Worship

The Discipline of Worship involves the coordination of people together, to perform ceremonies or fulfill requirements. It gives off benefits in the form of agriculture-related abilities:

The initiation: Pleasing the gods

The initiation into Worship must be performed by two persons at the same time. It consists of a small ceremony that involves lots of running and finding.

The official ATITD site has a guide to what must be done.

Prior to the beginning, you will need some materials:

It is important to note that, of all the materials required to perform the full initiation, only the beetle, and the canvas, board and oil of the ritual torch are consumed. The rest can be recovered.

The two stumbling blocks of the ceremony can be the hommage to Ra, which requires complete desert (no dirt, clay, grass or water must be visible on the cartographer's view), and the hommage to Thoth, which requires one of the two participants to be able to learn a skill. This is more tricky than one might think, if a player likes getting all the skills he can, as the location selected for the ceremony must be close to the appropriate school or university.

During the initiation, a small window appears on the top left of the screen. This window indicates your progress thru the ceremony. Also, whenever one of the steps is completed, a pop-up window will notify the other aspirant of the completion of a step, so that the person who is supposed to be reciting the prayers knows that the gift has been given. This allows the two aspirants to separate themselves during the ceremony, typically one running toward desert while the other runs toward a school and river.

For safety, take enough to build and light multiples ritual torches, in case your first attempt fails to please Ra. And remember, above all: Don't Panic!. If you fail to complete the ceremony in time, you can always do it again. Just do not let the person who learns a skill learn until the torch is lit and Ra satisfied.

Passing the initiation is required for the rest of the tests.

The Test of Marriage

The first Test of Worship, the test of Marriage, is the easiest... and the most frightening one of all tests.

Marriage requires one man and woman to marry at a Common Altar. The marriage requires 5 witnesses, in addition to the groom and bride.

The ceremony is simple:

That's it. Both the groom and bride (which must be paying accounts, and have played over 24h in Egypt) are married, which shows on their /info status, and have passed 1 test.

After the marriage, both players now have in their menus an option: Log on as spouse. Using that option allows them, if the spouse is not on, to switch between them and the spouse character. Thus, each player has a complete access to the spouse skills, possessions, guilds, etc... And, as this is done in-game, you do not need to know the spouse's password.

Important note: There is no divorce in Egypt. Choose carefully your lifemate for it will be with you for good and bad.

The Test of Astrological Alignment

The Test of Astrological Alignment requires you to create a group of five people that are astrally aligned.

Astral alignment is tested at a Common altar and require 4 candles, which are burned during the testing. One of the person places a candle on the left pillar, and one on the left cup of the altar. The other person then places a candle on the right cup, then the right pillar. Then, the candles are lit by the person who placed them, in the orders they were placed (first person lights the left pillar's candle, then the left cup's, second person then lights his two candles).

The result is emptiness, if the two persons are not aligned, or a spiritual connection if they are. Alignment is not transitive; if you are aligned a person, and that person is aligned with a third, there is no guarantee that you will be aligned with the third person.

You need to identify a group of five persons in which each person is aligned with the four others of his group. Once you have found one, each person requires a Medium Quartz, and the group must go together at an Univesity of Worship. There, each person in turn hands his or her Medium Quartz. When the five have done so, they each pass the Test.

If you have passed that Test, you are able to start a Flax Gin.
