The Test of Pilgrimage is the third test of Worship. A group of seven initiates of Worship travel over Egypt, seeking Holy Shrines. At each such Shrine, they will provide a sacrifice, tithing materials and goods. The most holy pilgrimage each week ascend, and each of its members pass the test.
The skill Shrine Construction requires a tuition of 1 of each of the basic marbles: 1 Oyster Shell, 1 Yellow Alabaster and 1 Mud Granite block.
After making a Small Construction Site, the shrine builder then selects what kind of tithe and the amount. The shrine requires 7 blocks of a specific marble, which depends on the tithe expected. The shrine also requires 7 times the tithe expected.
The Shrine will be Holy if:
One character must begin the Pilgrimage at an University of Worship. Upon selecting the "Begin the Path of the Pilgrim" option, you can elect to begin your Pilgrimage.
The six other Pilgrims must also register at an University of Worship. However, they do not choose to begin their own pilgrimage. Instead, they use a new option that appears when the original Pilgrim is selected, and opt to "Join Pilgrimage". The Pilgrimage is complete once 6 persons have joined the head Pilgrim, making a full seven group.
A new option in your personal "Tests..." sub-menu appears. You can leave your current pilgrimage, or see how well your pilgrimage did.
The Pilgrims may now work their way around Egypt at their leisure. Whenever they find a Pilgrim Shrine, they may tithe at that shrine. Tithing gives the amount indicated on the shrine to the shrine owner. To be a worthy tithe, the tithe must obey the following rules:
If your tithe is worthy, then the Shrine appears on the Pilgrimage list, and gives you an amount of point. You may tithe again at that shrine, for more points, but with diminishing returns.
| Tithe | Points | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Once | 100 | 100 |
| Twice | 50 | 150 |
| 3 times | 25 | 175 |
| 4 times | 12 | 187 |
| 5 times | 6 | 193 |
| 6 times | 3 | 196 |
| 7 times | 2 | 198 |
| 8 times | 1 | 199 |
Each week, your total of points is compared to that of each pilgrimage in Egypt. The one with the highest total passes the Test.
For the Pilgrimages that did not pass the Test, their point total remains. They can keep on the Path, tithing to additional shrines, or elect to wait. If they become the new highest point total, they will pass the next week. If not, the cycle continues, until you pass, one of the pilgrim quits playing, or your pilgrimage gets dissolved.
The pilgrimage is dissolved if one person decides to leave. All points and tithes are forgotten, and you must make a new pilgrimage afresh.
84 shrines are publically known as of December 22nd, 2003
